BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. — The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office is asking the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into a video that shows a deputy punching a man.
The video, which has circulated on social media, shows the deputy on top of the man and punching him. The video also shows the man grabbing at the deputy's vest and apparently trying to grab equipment.
According to Baldwin County Sheriff Bill Massey, it happened recently at the Texaco gas station on Vinson Highway.
He says the deputy was dispatched for trespassing at the gas station and the suspect scuffled with the deputy.
Massey has not released the name of the suspect or the deputy or released an incident report on the case. He says there's a full video of the incident, but he's also not released that.
Massey did not name the deputy or the man involved, but he did say that the man being punched was arrested.
The GBI was called in because of the very public nature of the video, which is in total about 13 minutes, according to Massey. Video circulating on social media is much shortly at roughly 13 seconds.
He says that the incident report is not available.
