Gotta love the US Navy. The most badass hardware in the world.

US has total of 11 aircraft carriers and the US military follows the "One-third Rotation Rule". One-third of forces are deployed or on active missions. One-third are at rest and in training as backup / reserve status. One-third are in maintenance and on leave for soldiers. Currently only 3 US carriers are deployed in missions as the 4th USS Gerald R. Ford is returning.

The search engines don't say it but this and other similar carriers can go 40+ MPH . The carriers are faster than the destroyers or cruisers.

@tommix1 No. Top speed between the carriers and the destroyers are very similar but still Arleigh Burke-class destroyer is faster in both acceleration and top speed. Here is an interesting fact. Not sure if you have heard of “hull speed principle” or “displacement speed principle”? In water, longer the hull of the ship, faster the ship. So in theory, at same given power output of the two ships, a 50% longer and 50% heavier ship is still faster than the lighter ship due to the length of the hull.

@FacelessMen I helped build that ship if you have any questions.

@Gutshot top speeds are classified, but do you think its possible the newer carriers can do 55 knots or better?
