Me and the wife decided 14 years ago, just before our first born that there will be no hitting of our kids. We agreed, it's basically bullying, forcing someone to succumb to your power. Our big thing is consequences. Teaching them that everything they say, everything they do, has a consequence. We now have two respectful, truthful, polite boys who get great grades. Hitting is losing control.

I don't excuse it, but I understand it. There are sometimes situations in which anger wins. If anger is balanced by love and tenderness, there is nothing wrong.
Healthy raising of children is based solely on the balance between bad and good. If this balance is not ensured, this is where problems begin. Extremes produce extremists!

Been in jail some. The most depraved sadistic bullied in school mfs I ever met were deputies runnin the jail.

Kids need tough love sometimes. But the key word there is love. You can’t let the anger win. Child may have done something wrong that needed correcting but doing it this way just confuses and terrorizes her.

If I got my ass snatched as a kid I was clearly explained why before and after and given love and understanding.

I could never treat a child that way in anger. Discipline should be controlled.
