Looks like the Ford Escape did a better job of doing what the front-end of the vehicle is supposed to do-- absorb most of the impact.
That is why it jumped back. Windshield intact.
Impala, occupants would have taken much more of the dash into them.
Not sure who would have had the higher G-forces.....

The white Ford explorer seen in the video is one of the few common vehicles I feel relatively "safe" in if you're riding shotgun... as long as the roof doesn't hit anything. The cargo area will crush, and if you're taller than me you'll likely be paralyzed in the second row seating. Don't put anything living in the 3rd row that you want to continue to live. Front seats? Damn impressive.
If you're the driver... Keep a tourniquet handy for when the steering wheel airbag deploys and severs the artery in your forearm.
