A Mexican diver filmed during an oceanic safari how an orca struck a pregnant female stingray with its tail, sending it flying through the air, and the impact caused the unborn pups to fall into the water. Luis Miguel Gutiérrez Bringas said it was one of the rarest hunts he had ever seen. In those waters, orcas already use the tail slap to stun stingrays, because the stinger can injure them if they bite head-on. The video is making the rounds on social media because it abruptly shows that the hunt doesn't wait for the cycle to complete. The scene stands as a reminder that the sea doesn't hand out mercy between those who eat and those trying to be born.
