Here is a speech he made for the Oxford Centre for Islamic studies back in 1993, proudly declaring:

"..medieval Islam was a religion of remarkable tolerance for its time allowing Jews and Christians the right to practice their inherited beliefs"

Charlie forgot to mention that was only if Jews and Christians were thoroughly subdued and made to pay the Jizya tax - or they may be 'unalive' by adherents of said 'religion of peace'.
