“To your knowledge, has the topic of rebuilding the Holy Temple in Jerusalem ever come up?”
That's the goal. The smiling answer was no, denying that it had come up in "those meetings", but that question put it on the table for the public.
You can't very well rebuild a temple on one of Islam's holiest sites with Iran watching, can you?

It was very obvious what needed to be done when they took US citizens hostage and when they started killing their own people, Iranians. Just think how many US soldiers they have killed since then and how much money US have spent dealing with Iran since then. Great leaders are willing to make the very difficult decisions that others avoid, knowing that true leadership often requires courage over comfort. And what you avoid today can overwhelm you tomorrow.
