On February 12th, 2023, officers in Ohio initiated a traffic stop at an unspecified intersection. The officer noticed a gray Toyota Camry halted on the wrong side of the road without the headlights. The suspect, seated in the driver's seat, was identified as the car's owner. The officer engaged with the suspect, who exhibited signs of intoxication, including a flushed face, glassy and watery eyes, and a strong alcoholic odor from her breath. The suspect admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening at a local establishment named Corky’s Place. As the conversation progressed, another patrol unit arrived to assist with the investigation. The officers conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs) to assess the suspect’s driving ability. Despite the suspect's hesitation, she agreed to undertake the tests. Based on the suspect’s performance of the SFSTs, the officers determined that there were sufficient grounds to arrest the suspect for Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (OVI). Officers placed the suspect under arrest and escorted her to the patrol car. As an officer placed the suspect into a patrol car, the suspect notified the officers of her pregnancy. Considering the suspect’s pregnancy, the officer handcuffed her in a manner that would not potentially harm her or the unborn child. Following her arrest, the suspect agreed to provide a breath sample that read 0.127 BAC (Blood Alcohol Content); the legal limit is 0.08 BAC. Subsequently, the suspect's license was suspended while her vehicle was towed and held until a sober individual could claim it. The suspect was later released to her mother. The suspect was given citations for Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (OVI), Lighted Lights, and Driving Upon Right Side Of the Roadway.
