LOS ANGELES, Calif., Feb. 9, 2026 – A female driver involved in a pursuit with officers was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and for assault charges early Monday morning.
A California Highway Patrol officer from the South Los Angeles Area office attempted to stop a white Honda SUV near Manchester Boulevard and the 110 Freeway around 2 a.m. The vehicle fled the stop, reportedly dragging one of the officers in the process. It is unclear if the officer sustained injuries.
Officers began pursuing the vehicle, but later discontinued the chase as the driver ran multiple red lights. Instead, they opted to have an airship track the vehicle.
The driver eventually arrived at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division, where LAPD officers then initiated their own pursuit.
The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of 69th Street and Central Avenue in the Florence neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The driver remained in the car for several minutes before complying with the officers’ commands. She was taken into custody without further incident.
According to officers, the woman is believed to be driving under the influence and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
