Good Boy: DPS K-9 Tracks Down Illegal Immigrants Hiding On Private Ranch In Maverick Co.

On Jan. 11, 2026, DPS K-9 Bona and her handler completed a two-mile track in Maverick Co. to locate and apprehend three illegal immigrants who tried to evade capture on a private ranch. Two of the illegal immigrants ran when they saw K-9 Bona, but her determination and skill led her straight to them through the brush.

 

This apprehension was a joint effort with U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations (AMO) working together to keep ranchlands safe and help secure the border as part of Operation Lone Star.
