@tommix1 Greenland is currently of no military significance. If the island were of military importance, troops would be stationed there, as was the case during the Cold War. The small but existing military presence could easily be expanded. The right to station troops there has existed since 1951, based on an agreement with Denmark.

Greenlanders would have no objections to local development, such as the extraction of mineral resources, provided it is carried out in an environmentally friendly manner. However, hardly any companies are starting anything there because it is too expensive and too complicated.

No one with a functioning brain knows why Trump is now picking a fight with the Europeans to get Greenland.

By the way, I'm taking your bet. Greenland certainly won't be part of the US in two months. The Europeans won't be so easily blackmailed.
