Chicago Woman Sentenced to 27 Months for Hate Crime: Molotov Cocktail Attack on Venezuelan Neighbors

70-year-old Ana Hernandez threw a Molotov cocktail at her neighbors’ porch on March 16, 2024, igniting a fire.

She later left a note on their car stating, “We do not want you in the neighborhood. Go back to your country. You can go the easy way or the hard way.”

She admitted targeting them because of their nationality and legal status.

Hernandez pleaded guilty earlier this year to a federal hate crime charge of unlawfully interfering with housing rights.
