Tom Nordeman, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was in Philadelphia's Chinatown when he offered to buy food for a man who introduced himself as “Ethan.”

“I was trying to be a nice guy because I like to see the goodness in people.”

Ethan then told Nordeman that he would help him cross the street safely, and when Nordeman got to the other side, Ethan was gone.

Nordeman got to the bus stop a few moments later and noticed that Ethan had stolen his phone and started screaming, “Call the police! Call the police.’

Nordeman's father, Tom Nordeman Sr., said, “He’s such a good guy. I was really disappointed that someone would do that to him… It’s pretty difficult to see your 43-year-old son in tears. Real tears. Really crying.”

The thief then tried to use Nordeman's digital wallet to make several purchases, including one at GameStop for $856.95, which was immediately flagged.

The police are actively investigating the situation, and Nordeman said, “I’m going to be a lot more careful who I talk to.”
