EDGEWATER, Fla. — A Florida mother accused of leaving her 6-month-old baby inside a running vehicle for hours while she cleaned a home is behind bars — and it isn't the first time she's been accused of similar conduct.

According to the Edgewater Police Department, a concerned citizen noticed an unoccupied vehicle running in a driveway for an extended period. After approaching the vehicle, the person discovered a 6-month-old baby alone inside and called 911.

Edgewater police responded and determined that Kristina Vitucci had allegedly left the baby inside the vehicle for several hours. Vitucci told officers she checked on the child every 45 minutes.

Body camera video shows officers approaching the home after confirming a baby was inside the vehicle. An officer then walked to the home and knocked on the door. A woman answered and told officers the running vehicle belonged to her house cleaner.
Police said that despite the vehicle running, the air conditioning was not keeping the interior at a comfortable temperature. The baby did not appear to be physically injured but appeared uncomfortable, according to police.

Body camera video later shows officers placing Vitucci in handcuffs.

Investigators said this was not the first time Vitucci had been accused of leaving a child alone inside a vehicle. In February 2025, authorities said she left a child inside a vehicle while she was inside a local bar consuming alcohol.

Police said the latest arrest resulted in an alleged violation of her probation.
