Georgetown, Ohio — While on routine patrol, Patrolman Rammel with the Georgetown Police Department observed a female subject walking. The individual was identified as Mary McElroy, who was known to have an active warrant. Aware of McElroy's history of violent behavior, Patrolman Rammel called for assistance. Upon approaching McElroy, Patrolman Rammel informed her of the warrant. She observed pre-attack indicators from the suspect and attempted to evade being struck in the face. Deputy Hardy arrived on the scene and promptly moved everyone away from the immediate roadway to safety. Together, Patrolman Rammel and Deputy Hardy attempted to control McElroy. After a struggle, they were able to place her in restraints. During the altercation, Patrolman Rammel sustained cuts, bruises, damaged uniform, and was spit on, necessitating medical treatment and evaluation. McElroy was subsequently booked into the Brown County Jail on multiple charges, including resisting arrest, obstruction, and assault of a police officer.
