Teen group beating of a high school student at Charlotte shopping center
A cluster of teenagers surrounded a high school boy at Blakeney Town Center in south Charlotte and kicked him in the face until he hit the pavement. A local teacher received the footage from a worried parent and said it turned his stomach. Police are treating the episode as an assault. The victim attends Indian Land High School just across the South Carolina line and is recovering. A woman leaving Target honked and called police, yet the circle kept going until it finished. The scene sits alongside other large youth gatherings in the city this year, some drawing hundreds and ending in arrests. Adult oversight looks thin in an ordinary commercial space where phones recorded more than they stopped
