The man allegedly jumped in near the Queens side of the river, and NYPD Harbor deployed boats to pull him out. “NYPD Harbor responded, removed the aided from the water, and transported him to the Astoria Ferry Terminal. The aided was transported to Elmhurst General Hospital via EMS, in stable condition.”

He is not facing charges at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. There is still no confirmed explanation for why the man entered the water, so any assumption about his motives would go beyond the facts currently available.
