Illegal alien arrested on drug charges in Florida

On Thursday, one of our Tactical Narcotics Team Detectives conducted a traffic stop near Palm Beach Boulevard and Marsh Avenue after observing a traffic violation.
During a search of the passenger, Jorge Valle Armijo, Detective Lehmann located suspected marijuana and a baggie containing a white substance.
When officers attempted to detain Armijo, he pulled away and took off running across Palm Beach Boulevard. Detective Lehmann, and a Fort Myers Police Department officer gave chase.
Detective Lehmann quickly caught up and deployed his agency-issued Taser, allowing law enforcement to safely take Armijo into custody. A continued search revealed additional baggies containing a white rock-like substance.
Field testing identified the substances as crack cocaine and marijuana.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Armijo was unlawfully present in the United States. He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail on an ICE detainer.
