The pilot of a small airplane was killed and two Pennsylvania State Police troopers were injured after the plane collided in midair with a state police helicopter near the Carlisle airport in Pennsylvania's Cumberland Valley on Wednesday evening, officials said.

The Cessna 150 airplane crashed into the Bell 407 helicopter, which was conducting a training exercise, shortly before 7 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police Acting Commissioner Col. George Bivens told reporters at a press briefing on Wednesday.

Plane got sucked in by the heli's rotor wash. Question is, why tf was it hovering near an active runway.

@YOLO_ Because police think they can do whatever they want , and everyone else must adjust what they are doing to accommodate them ,and if you dont you will get to find out the hard way !

"Driver Fixation" crashes have now become,

"Pilot Fixation" crashes.

Who needs air traffic controllers? Not us, sack those useless government workers, too.

Now they're pit maneuvering airplanes?

Probably a student pilot. A 150 is typically used for training new pilots.

Helicopter prop wash is devastating to small aircraft, as seen here.

@usarmyretiredsgm Its Not The Wash, It Was The Actual Blades.

@BazBamigboy The prop wash is what caused the pilot to lose control of the plane.
