San Joaquin County, CA - The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office released a video Monday evening showing the moments that led up to a deputy shooting a woman during a traffic stop in late June.
According to the sheriff's office, the deputy was responding to a report of an argument between two women just outside Stockton near North Moon Avenue around 11 a.m. on June 23. As the deputy arrived, he saw a car leaving the area and pursued.
Dash cam video from the sheriff's vehicle shows the deputy following the car for a little under a minute before the driver, 46-year-old Erica Lee Johnson, stops at an intersection and allows the deputy to approach.
The video then switches to bodycam footage of the deputy walking to the car. The footage shows what appears to be a gun in Johnson's lap, though investigators later determined the object to be an air-powered replica handgun.
The deputy points his gun at the driver and tells her not to reach for the weapon. Johnson raises a hand but then lowers it again moments later. The deputy then shoots Johnson.
The sheriff's office said Johnson was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In Australia resides a fictitious character called Trent From Punchy. This is his CA doppelganger.

She said I'm playing with it. She was not going to shoot the officer with the replica. He acted way to quick. Only in US.

The thing is that she definitely wasn’t going to shoot the officer. She’s just too stupid to follow directions

@Lemmiwinks
Doesn't matter.
He had 1/1,000 of a second to make a decision to save his own life.

Never take a chance if firearm is replica.

Too bad she survived. She has absolutely nothing of value to contribute to society except an example of what not to be.

I'd love to hear from shooting survivors if they learned their lesson about doing things that warrant getting shot.
