El Paso police officer & driver injured after crash during traffic stop

El Paso, TX - The El Paso Police Department wants to remind people to avoid distractions while driving, sharing dramatic bodycam video where a distracted driver narrowly missed running over an officer during a traffic stop.
On Friday, EPPD took to social media to share the video of the close call, describing that the motorcycle officer had just pulled over a driver when a distracted driver slammed into the back of the stopped car-- pushing the car about 500 feet forward down the shoulder and miraculously missing the officer.
According to the post, the crash happened on I-10 on July 25. And while the officer, as well as the driver of the stopped car, suffered injuries, EPPD said they were non-life-threatening.
The distracted driver was cited for "failure to control speed causing a collision

In Phoenix, you better be doing AT LEAST fifteen over in the slow lane. The passing lane is Autobahn rules. Cops here don't care what you do as long as you stay out of the HOV lane.
