A 29-year-old man reported his truck stolen to police minutes after he allegedly broke the window and stole from a Verizon store in Ellicott City last week, police said.
The officers who responded to his vehicle theft report noticed blood on his hands and took him into custody, according to body camera footage from the Howard County Police Department.
Officers responded to the burglary report around 5 a.m. on June 25. There, they noticed a broken window with blood on it, and watched security footage of a man taking items from the store.
About a half hour later, officers who responded to the store were asked to head across the street to a 7-Eleven where a man reported his truck was stolen. When police arrived, one officer noticed blood on the man’s hands and clothing, then quickly arrested him.
