This woman returned a U-Haul truck that she rented on Saturday.

She went back into the office Monday to complain that she got charged an extra $210.

The man behind the counter told her it’s because she didn’t check the truck in on her phone like he showed her to do. He told her he wouldn’t be there Saturday after 3pm, so she was to check it in online on her phone. Since that didn’t happened, the truck didn’t get checked in until he came in Monday, thus the extra charges.

She said she parked the truck in the back and dropped the keys in the drop box.

Many people said they sided with U-Haul. They said that’s why they give you a pamphlet and as the man said that’s why he explained it to her.

She said she didn’t remember him explaining that to her.

She was home schooled and still went to summer school.

Uhaul is a fucking joke anyway. The trucks they rent are garbage.

@chechnya I've never had issues, and the loading ramp comes in handy af, especially with large pieces of furniture or heavy tool boxes.

My only complaint is the 75 mph governor.

Notice how he said that he knows the Dollar General across the street and the pawn shop across the street don't have cameras facing the U-Haul
store, and how he doesn't have camera at the front of the store, only in the back?
NOT LIKE this was the FIRST time someone pulled this kind of a stunt! ;)

@kma8675309 Sne wants him to do an investigation! :D I'm not gunna waste an hour of my day for someone that cannot follow simple directions, especially after I've given them the directions written down and with pictures. No one should have to, imho.

This is fine and dandy but when I was in the same situation there was a dead spot in the cell service. There should be someone there everyday including Saturdays and Sundays....until at least 8pm. After that? THEN you can charge an extra day.

@SoWhatHappenedWas That's not how most of those U-Haul franchise stores work, though. Imagine that you own a U-Haul store what you would do. Consider overhead like payroll, gas and electric, taxes and permits, building and vehicle maintenance, consumables. Some of those places have razor thin profit margins, and Mom and Pop sunk their retirement money into the store so they "don't have to work through retirement". On top of that they only get 20% of the profit from the rental.

$210 bonus for following instructions.

Some people genuinely struggle with basic instructions, even when they are written for a third grader. You can also tell from his demeanor that he knew she'd be a problem when she picked up the truck. It's a constant battle.
