Back in the day, we used to be a lot more sensible dealing with our problems. Execution of problematics like this was too kind of a punishment, and keeping them in prison was a waste because that required time and effort and resources. So instead they got creative.

They'd dig a deep hole that couldn't be climbed out of and tossed the problematics in there, never to leave. They'd spend the remainder of their days begging, pleading, screaming, starving, and expiring from exposure next to the bones of the others who went in before them. It's where the "dungeon filled with skeletons" imagery comes from that's been used in fantasy lore for hundreds of years.

What a shame we don't still go by the old ways; we used to be so much more sophisticated.
