5 charged, 9 wanted in Ripley HS graduation fights

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Five people were charged, and nine are wanted after a fight broke out during Ripley High School’s graduation on Thursday, according to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.

Za’Darius Smith, Jordan Bonds, and Devontae Robertson were charged with inciting a riot and disorderly conduct.

Stephanie Scott was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and a minor was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass.

“To those who believe you have escaped detection, understand this: you are only delaying the inevitable. I have the rest of my career to locate every single person responsible, and I assure you that we will not stop until each of you is held fully accountable for your actions,” said Sheriff Brian Kelley.

On May 15, deputies said a group of people chose to engage in multiple fights during the ceremony. Authorities have not released information on what started the fights.

LCSO said they are actively reviewing video footage and working to identify every person involved in this incident.

A 10 p.m. curfew was enforced for Lauderdale County.
