The Greensboro Police Department said the use of deadly force was legally justified in an officer-involved shooting case that happened back in Aug. 2025.

The announcement came during a press conference the department held on Monday afternoon, where police released body-worn camera footage from the day of the incident.

Here's some background.

According to police, an officer was flagged down at approximately 4:06 p.m. on Marion Street by a resident who reported a trespasser. The resident directed the officer to 48-year-old Said Ezzine, who was accused of being on private property without permission.

Police said the officer approached Ezzine to investigate. According to the department, Ezzine refused to follow repeated commands and then pulled out a weapon and moved toward the officer. The officer then fired back, striking Ezzine.

Police said that the officer called for emergency medical services and began life-saving efforts. Ezzine was later pronounced dead at the scene.

In the footage, seen by WFMY News 2 reporter Amber Lake, the officer says to Ezzine, "Come here, friend, I just need to talk to you."

Ezzine says, "Don't start," as he walks away. "Don't follow me."

The officer made repeated commands to stop. Ezzine went into a shed on the property and then came at the officer with a weapon. The officer asks him to get on the ground.

The District Attorney's office determined the actions of the officer were justified on May 4.
