SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An investigation is underway following an officer-involved shooting earlier this month is San Diego’s East Village neighborhood, authorities confirmed.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 5 p.m. on April 15 near the intersection of 16th Street and Island Avenue.
Officers with the San Diego Police Department responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, where callers said a woman was actively stabbing a man.
Police say when officers arrived, they gave commands for the suspect to drop the object she was holding. The woman instead advanced toward officers, prompting additional commands.
