A 64-year-old Alabama man was killed in an exchange of gunfire during a traffic stop that also wounded a police officer.
Alabama State Troopers on Friday identified the slain man as Robert Williams. He lived in Greensboro.
The ordeal began about 7:30 p.m. Thursday when a Greensboro officer stopped Williams in the 1000 block of Blount Street. The stop happened in a parking space at Magnolia Village Apartments.
Williams, said ALEA Capt. Jeremy Burkett, pulled a gun and shot the officer. The officer returned fire, hitting Williams.
