2 Florida men rob multiple stores at gunpoint, pepper spray victims

A pair of Florida men carried out a series of violent armed robberies over 10 days in Jacksonville, holding victims at gunpoint before pepper spraying them, according to authorities.
The robberies began in June 2025, as the men waited for cashiers to be alone before entering businesses, holding victims at gunpoint, emptying the register and pepper spraying them before fleeing, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
The pair repeated this method in five stores, wearing black clothing and masks to conceal their identities, JSO said.
JSO posted a compilation of surveillance videos of the robberies on Facebook on Wednesday.
“It’s one thing to demand or have somebody at gunpoint,” JSO’s Sergeant Christopher Smith said. “For them to be cooperative, and then you also pepper spray them afterwards, it’s just kind of heinous.”
The sheriff’s office said its detectives reviewed hours of store surveillance video, tracked leads and made two arrests in connection with the robberies.
Detectives arrested Richard King, 25, and James Weaver, 38, who are still in the Duval County Jail, according to JSO.
King was charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and attempted armed robbery while wearing a mask or hood. Weaver was charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of armed robbery with a firearm and driving with a suspended license.
