New York State trooper struck during traffic stop
It happened last Sunday around 5 a.m. on the New York State Thruway.
Two troopers pulled over a Mercedes during a traffic stop. As one was talking to the driver, authorities say a Chevrolet Suburban rear-ended their patrol car, which then hit the trooper.
The trooper was transported to the Westchester Medical Center for minor injuries and was later released. The other trooper was not struck.
The crash is under investigation, but officials said this is an important reminder to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.
Law enforcement has to stop pulling people over on busy roads like that. They should direct the person the nearest parking lot. This happens too often. My stepdaughter was pulled over in a well-known speed trap outside Savannah, Ga where the speed drops suddenly from 65mph to 45mph and is not marked clearly. The highway patrol was trying to do sobriety tests on her inches from the right-hand stripe on a very busy highway with trucks and cars whizzing by. She was designated driver that night and had no alcoholic drinks. He arrested her for DUI and lied saying she stumbled when getting out of the car, etc. This guy had over 3,500 DUI arrests and just like my stepdaughter's, you know all those people weren't drunk. When the video came out in court, my stepdaughter was exonerated and found not guilty. The Highway Patrolman should have been suspended but faced no repercussions.
I love to see it. Maybe they will stop pulling people over on busy highways. If a person is not doing something that would put other drivers in danger cops should not be stopping them on busy highways.
