Man arrested after using 'prop' gun to commit armed robbery in Atlanta

ATLANTA — A man who tried to use a fake firearm to commit a crime was arrested in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

In a Facebook post, the department said Zone 3 officers responded to a pedestrian robbery at 595 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW. They say a suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and robbed them of their wallet.
Officers say they quickly reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and identified the suspect, 28-year-old Qwantavis McClure, who was located nearby after police canvassed the area. He was taken into custody.

A prop firearm was also located during the investigation, which police believe McClure used to conduct the armed robbery. He was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and giving false information to a law enforcement officer.
