HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - The Office of the Inspector General has released a preliminary report, including bodycam video, of a mental health wellness check that ended in the deadly shooting of 53-year-old Everard Walker.

 

The shooting occurred last week. According to the report, a family member called 211 seeking assistance because Walker was suffering from an acute mental health crisis.

 

Several Hartford police officers accompanied two mental health professionals from the Capitol Region Mental Health Center to respond to Walker’s apartment on Capitol Avenue.

 

The team arrived at Walker’s apartment at around 10:08 a.m. They attempted to speak to Walker from the hallway through the open door of the apartment, according to the report.
