FLINT, Mich.— Two special needs children were rescued from neglect in Flint Township this week in what police are calling a situation "no human being should endure."
According to the Flint Township Police Department, deputies responded to a welfare check at a home after a neighbor called 911.
"It felt less like entering a home and more like stepping into abandonment itself," police said in a Facebook post.
The house was in disarray, with trash covering the floor and the bathroom faucet left running. Feces were smeared along the walls at a child's height and paint splattered across the walls and floors. When officers continued searching the home, they found one child eating raw, spoiled meat, and the other curled up on the bathroom floor.
Detectives quickly confirmed that the two children had been left for days.
After questioning the mother, officers "dismantled the mother's lies and followed the evidence until the truth came to light."
Krystal Farmer was charged with:
2 counts felony child abandonment
2 counts felony child abuse in the 2nd degree
2 counts felony child abuse in the 2nd degree in the presence of another child
1 count felony lying to a peace officer during a violent crime investigation

Looks like weeks of neglect if not a month. I hope the children’s psyche can recover from this.
