I worked rotating 12 hours shifts for years, we worked three or four days, then three or four nights and on and on. You never knew if you were coming or going. Sometimes we got held over or had to go in early to work 18 hours. Nights were always the easiest for me.

No sympathy. First, 12 hour shift is nothing. Second, most full-time hospital nurses work 3 days per week so they have 4 days off.

@Epicfrog It's obvious that you have no clue. I've used to work for Pyxis Corp and was constantly at the hospitals. It might be stressful being around sick people but most of the time, nurses are seating around, even in ER and ICU. Now I'm in the trade-show and entertainment industry in which the long-hour days are common. Like I said, nurse's 12 hour shifts are nothing but doesn't mean that they don't have one of those really long days but that can be said for any work. And FYI. Pediatrics department in a hospitals are a specialized department. Nurses just do NOT interchange workload in that department as they are dedicated crew.

@ScreaminMime That's only one 24 hour shift day per week and they rotate to 8 hours to 12 hours for the rest of the week.
