This is the shocking moment a young woman uses her Fiat 500 to mow down a man while he was playing rugby with his friends.
Lexi Dyas, 19, was jailed after a judge saw the video of her smashing into Declan Mahoney, 21, at 'excessive speed'.
Cardiff Crown Court heard that Mr Mahoney tried to get out of the way but Dyas swerved her car, which had the personalised registration plate of 'LX06MAE'.
Dyas, who sobbed in court, could not offer any explanation to why she swerved the car.
She claimed it was an 'accident' in her police interview after being distracted behind the wheel while chatting with a friend.
But the judge scolded her for driving 'deliberately and directly' at Mr Mahoney and sentenced her to 18 months in jail and banned her from driving for nearly three years.
The video shows Mr Mahoney, who was 19 at the time, throwing a rugby ball with his friends moments before Dyas's speeding car hits him, sending him flying up into the air.
His two friends rushed over to help him as Dyas, then 18, pulls over and gets out of the car. He was taken to hospital with multiple fractures to his arm, leg and finger after the smash in Mountain Ash, South Wales, in July 2024.
Prosecutor Andrew Davies said: 'She indicated it was an accident which occurred because of her not concentrating.
