Saturday, February 14, the death of Quentin, a 23-year-old student violently attacked on Thursday in Lyon, in circumstances that remain unclear. He was in critical condition, suffering from a concussion, after this outburst of violence filmed by some local residents, one of whom gave his account in the TF1 8 PM news report featured at the top of this article.

The young man, a mathematics student, was associated with the far-right group Némésis, which had disrupted a conference by LFI MEP Rima Hassan at the Lyon Institute of Political Studies (IEP) on Thursday. The activists claim they were then "attacked" by anti-fascist militants. Later that evening, firefighters reported that they had taken Quentin (new window), "very seriously injured," to a hospital more than a kilometer from the building.
