I was in Guitar Cener yesterday and I picked a used Fender Telecaster Thinline custom shop guitar. It was dirty and heavily worn and looked like it had been in thousands of gigs. There were stains from the oils in the original owner's fingers up and down the fretboard. I played it for about 15 minutes.
