2 alleged human smugglers bail on illegal aliens they’re smuggling and jump into the Rio Grande with a baby to flee police.

Both the driver and passenger, who are U.S. citizens, abandoned the vehicle and tried to swim across the Rio Grande to reach Mexico.

The passenger, Brenda Castro from Laredo, entered the river holding her infant child in a bid to avoid capture. Following instructions from state and federal authorities, she returned to the U.S. side, where Texas Troopers arrested her. The infant was taken into the custody of law enforcement.

Troopers discovered five illegal aliens in the vehicle and turned them over to U.S. Border Patrol.
