Donald Trump has welcomed home American schoolteacher Marc Fogel after he was released from prison in Russia, with the US president saying Vladimir Putin had got "not much" in return.

Trump said that another detainee would be freed on Wednesday without giving their name.

Mr Fogel, a 63-year-old former diplomat, landed at Joint Base Andrews just outside Washington DC late on Tuesday evening, before travelling to the White House.

His release was negotiated as part of an exchange with Russia, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz said earlier. Russia did not comment on the release immediately.

The school he worked at has a special status where its teachers often enjoyed diplomatic privileges due to their association with the embassies. And he knowingly brought contraband into a foreign country, falsely assumed he actually has diplomat immunity., when they picked him up at the airport, going through custom into Russia. Regardless, it is nice to have him back home.»

The best thing to happen in British politics recently, is Nigel Farage getting himself in the mix. If he can get enough traction in the next 2-3 years (which is a tall order, but you never know), he may well surprise a few people in the next election.
