On Oct. 11, disturbances started around 6 p.m. at the Winston-Salem fair, one of North Carolina's oldest since 1882, leading police to eject about 50 juveniles and officials to close at 9:45 p.m. for safety. The same group later vandalized a business on University Parkway, where officers restored order within an hour.
