People who could have changed the world but disappeared

I knew a guy who had pretty successfully pulled a scam on a lot of people with his "energy saving" device. He's dead now but it surprises me how many people fall for free energy systems and other scams. It's too much to write about here but it was pretty interesting how he scammed people and made them believe his system worked.

50-100 years have passed and science has moved on exponentially. Noone has since attempted these "inventions" . This tells you that these claims are nonsense.
