Vila Caiçara waterfront in Praia Grande, a coastal city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

The sudden opening of the crater was triggered by the rupture of a water main pipe belonging to the sanitation company Sabesp.
The guard was responding to an initial report or checking on a leak along the boardwalk when the concrete walkway unexpectedly gave way beneath his feet, swallowing him live on camera during a local recordin.

According to city officials, the officer did not suffer serious injuries from the fall and was safely recovered.
