The Oakwood Police Department and the Texas Rangers are investigating a shooting in a convenience store parking lot that left one man hospitalized and prompted a school lockdown late last week.
Oakwood Police Chief Anthony “Tony” Gasaway told KBTX that officers responded just after 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, to reports of a fight at a gas station on Broad Street. While officers were en route, a shooting occurred during the altercation.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital, where police said his condition was listed as stable at last check.
The suspect, identified by police as Kadonte Watkins, 24, of Palestine, TX, was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation before being booked into the Leon County Jail on charges of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant, Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Taking a Weapon from an Officer.
Bond was set at $75,000 for one charge, and no bond was set on the other two, so Watkins remains in custody.
Based on the information shared, it wasn’t immediately clear who the officer is, his role in the altercation, or which agency he works for.

This chimp gets 75,000 for attacking and attempting to kill a police officer but Chud the builder gets 1,000,000 spaced across 10 bail companies for saying a mean word and defending himself. We truly live in a bolshevik anarcho tyrannical tyranny. Fair justice is long gone. Thanks, Obama; you fundamentally transformed the country, just as you promised.
