Ecuador: An attempted assassination was thwarted in south-central Guayaquil. The attack took place at the intersection of Ayacucho and Carchi streets, where an armed individual approached his target on foot and attempted to shoot him.

However, the weapon jammed at that precise moment, and the hitman was unable to carry out the attack. Authorities are investigating the incident, which occurred on a public street.
