There is still fear of the police, but it's now the fear that you'll be wrongfully detained, and shot to death when you object to it.
...or the fear that if you call them during a burglary, they will come to your house and kill you or a family member instead of the intruder.
...or that you'll be killed in a head on collision by a car that was pit maneuvered because cops think they're as skilled as a nascar driver.
