Can't trust the Police. More Flock BS causes shutdown of FLOCK cameras

The city of Greer, South Carolina is suspending their Flock Safety Cameras program

Multiple officers have been found to be using the cameras for unauthorized searches and putting in fake reasons so the logs look legitimate

The cameras have been covered with plastic bags while they do a 90 day pause on their Flock cameras

- Cpl. Kareem Lynch (28) repeatedly searched the plate of a fellow officer he had previously been in a relationship with (a subordinate). He logged the searches as “welfare check” or “city planning.”

- Officer Sebastian Echeverry (29) searched plates of several residents over months and logged the reason as “Alcohol Offense Non-DUI.”

There was also another officer in South Carolina that who was fired after searching an ex’s plate roughly 170 times and logging false reasons like welfare check, warrant, traffic stop

Just make laws to prevent the abuse from happening (similar to HIPAA laws) but make sure they are enforced.
A law without consequence for breaking them are ineffective.
Any liberal city is a prime example of what happens when laws are not enforced, they turn into cesspools.

I think there's good reasons to have them. Usage has to be tightly controlled. Personally, I would set up my own security cameras and store the data myself. Not your hard drives, not your data.

@Theocritus usage tightly controlled similar to HIPAA laws. And yes, my security system is hosted in my home and all motion detected is FTPd to an offsite NAS so if someone breaks into my house and sets it on fire destroying the NVR, the motion data is still safe offsite as evidence.

And on the https://deflock.org/ website, over 150 cities have now canceled their contracts with Flock.
At the beginning of August, it was less than 100. More cities are pushing back on this nonsense.
And their STOCK price is FALLING too!

Florida is doing PSA commercials about how they have caught murderers utilizing Flock cameras by the license plates.

If they just need to read the license plates, they would only need to be 3 feet off the ground, not 15.
