Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, with at Least Nine Mecklenburg Arrests Since 2023 Including Assault on a Female and Weapons Charges, Arrested August 6 in Dilworth Sidewalk Assault Case

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On August 6, 2026, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt after linking social media videos to an assault reported July 30 in the 400 block of East Boulevard in the Dilworth area.

According to CMPD, officers responded at approximately 10:01 a.m. August 6 to a call in the 800 block of East Fourth Street. They were shown a social media account containing multiple videos already under investigation by detectives. One video depicted the July 30 incident, in which the suspect punched a woman on a sidewalk and fled. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives identified Hunt, obtained a warrant, and took him into custody Thursday evening. He was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Upon release, he will be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation is active and ongoing. Police request information about the assault or related videos be provided to CrimeStoppers.

Hunt has a lengthy criminal history in Mecklenburg County, with arrests on at least nine occasions between October 2023 and December 2025. Prior charges include assault on a female, domestic violence, multiple violations of restraining or domestic violence protective orders, assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats, carrying a concealed weapon, second-degree trespassing, resisting a public officer, malicious conduct by a prisoner, breaking and entering, injury to personal property, contempt of court, disorderly conduct, simple assault and probation violations. He was convicted in 2020 of shooting into occupied property. A December 2025 arrest involved second-degree trespassing, assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats and carrying a concealed weapon.
