The military is a hierarchical dictatorship that you voluntarily join. You have to do 20 years to get your pension. You could be killed, or permanently maimed. Many get life long injuries just from the wear and tear on their bodies.

And no, not everybody wants that. I like my private sector lifestyle, and I like the idea of building up my own retirement. Sure, I have Social Security coming to me as well, but that also comes from working. You have to meet minimum qualifications, and your SS payment is tied to how much you have worked. Living where you're stationed, not where you want to live, and if you're not where you're supposed to be you're AWOL.
Every job has benefits, and the ones she listed are not free. They're paid for by taxpayers and earned by vets.
