CHICAGO – "Seven Save A Lot discount grocery stores on the city's South and West sides are closing their doors Saturday, leaving already struggling neighborhoods with even fewer options for basic food and expanding the food deserts that have plagued Democrat-led Chicago for years.

"The operator, Ohio-based Yellow Banana, and Save A Lot cited "significant financial headwinds," including a roughly 26% drop in SNAP/EBT sales after federal benefit reductions under President Trump's administration. SNAP had accounted for nearly half the revenue at these locations. The sudden April death of Yellow Banana CEO Joe Canfield compounded the problems, alongside the company's history of unpaid bills, lawsuits from suppliers, and operational shortfalls. The city of Chicago had poured about $13.5 million in taxpayer TIF funds into renovating and reopening several of these stores just a few years ago under a deal meant to keep them operating for a decade."

We all know exactly why the stores are really closing down. Rampant shoplifting that is basically encouraged by the city because they refuse to prosecute shoplifters.
