A tourist was caught on dashcam seemingly pestering a female taxi driver for sex in Thailand.

Thai cabbie, Mapraw, 41, was driving the Palestinian passenger named Alex on the holiday island of Phuket when he repeatedly propositioned her on July 1.

Dashcam footage shows the pair making small talk in the car before the tourist told Mapraw: 'You look beautiful'.

He then started flirting, saying he 'liked her' and asking whether she was married.

As the conversation continued, he asked if she wanted to do ‘something special' with him and invited her into a romantic relationship.

After Mapraw turned him down, he offered her 3,000 baht.

When she asked what he meant, he replied: 'Kiss and f***'.

He then increased the offer to 4,000 baht, then 5,000 baht, suggesting they pull over to have sex, but Mapraw refused both offers.

He eventually raised the amount to 250 USD, but she continued to decline.

Mapraw, who publicised the video of herself, said she laughed off the passenger's advances to keep the situation calm while they were alone inside the taxi.

After arriving at his destination, the passenger paid the fare and apologised for his behaviour.

Mapraw explained that she initially thought the tourist was joking, adding she had no intention of accepting his proposition.

She said: ‘Nowadays, there are many types of tourists.

‘Some are respectful, while others think having money allows them to offer anything to get what they want.

‘What happened this time shows that not everyone thinks the same way, and for me, money is not a reason to accept that kind of offer.'

The island of Phuket's combination of idyllic beaches and colourful nightlife has seen it become one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.

However, the influx of tourists has caused a surge in violence, depravity and petty crime - with many locals now regretting throwing open the doors to boost the economy.
